Hello ACTS Brothers and Sisters:

Introducing our first newsletter from the New London area of ACTS-CONNECTICUT. We want to tell you how the ACTS movement is growing in Southeastern Conn.

For some of you, your first retreat may have been held at Immaculata in Willimantic or

Camp Wightman in North Stonington, or even My Fathers House in Moodus.

In 2009, we hosted two retreats at St Edmund’s Enders Island in Mystic.

The number of ACTS Retreat attendees in the greater New London area is now over 100.

The Mens’ Retreat was held April 2 – 5, and the

Womens’ Retreat was held October 8 – 11.On both

retreats the dormitory was full to capacity.

The beauty and presence on these sacred grounds

was further inspired by the Holy Spirit and all

were surely blessed for the weekend.

Director Formation Workshop, Sat. Jan 23, 2010

Each and every one of us has our favorite ACTS memory

Most of us have more than one. Each retreat that we have

been on has brought to us a new spiritual experience.

Much of that is because each retreat has a different director.

(continued on back – see Director……)

The goals of the retreat are to strengthen your faith and its application in your daily life, to renew yourself spiritually, and to build community through lasting friendships.

Director Formation Workshop (continued from front page)

Even though each retreat has the same components that makes it an ACTS retreat,

each director brings together a different group of people to formulate the TEAM.

As we marvel at how well each weekend turns out, most of us say to ourselves,

“ I could never be a director”.

The fact is that if nobody ever said YES to being a director there wouldn’t be any more ACTS retreats.

Of course, we all depend on the Holy Spirit and we know that the Lord will give us what we lack, if we are called to this role.

The Chapter of ACTS CT is providing a short course that will make the task of directorship less overwhelming. This workshop is for ALL of us; even YOU!

Even if being a director is the furthest thing from your mind right now, you should consider attending this workshop; for we know that Our plan is not always GOD’S plan.

To be honest, we are in a situation in our CORE that there are only 3 men and 4 women who have gone to leadership training that can be directors.

This is not a very large pool to draw from when selecting directors for retreats.

There have been enough men and women on ACTS retreats from this area to have a much larger pool.

If you have been on TEAM for one or two times, it is time for you to step forward and be trained so that when and if the Lord calls, you can say YES with confidence to serve your ACTS community! Please r.s.v.p to Diane Letendre 860-447-9177
